On November 17 at 3:00 p.m. (local time), D&A LLC hosted a fireside chat with the 70th U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the Valo Park conference room in Fairfax County, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. This event marked the first time a major Korean law firm has invited a former or current high-ranking U.S. official to host a fireside chat in the United States. The event drew significant attention, attracting approximately 60 attendees, including business leaders, foreign affairs and security experts, and journalists. 

The event commenced with a welcome address by Jiung PARK, Managing Director of D&A Advisory, Inc., followed by opening remarks from Partner Dong Eon CHA of D&A LLC. 

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who participated as a panelist, served as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Secretary of State during the first Trump administration, playing a pivotal role in U.S. foreign, security, and economic policy decisions. He is widely regarded as having extensive networks with key figures in the second Trump administration. 

Former Secretary Pompeo discussed the Trump administration's economic policy direction and potential shifts impacting current Korea-U.S. trade issues. He also presented practical strategic guidance and insights for Korean companies navigating today’s environment. 

The panel discussion was moderated by former U.S. State Department Legal Adviser Marik String. Mr. String previously served alongside Secretary Pompeo during his tenure and is an expert in foreign and national security policy, with experience on the Trump administration’s second-term transition team. 
He currently serves as Senior Adviser to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and maintains close working relationships with key figures in the Trump administration and in Congress
