D&A and Labor Law Firm Jaeil Co-Host Seminar on SAPA Compliance Certification (SCC) Program Utilizing Refunds from Industrial Accident and Employment Insurance Premiums
On October 21, D&A and Labor Law Firm Jaeil successfully co-hosted a hybrid seminar on the SAPA Compliance Certification (SCC) Program Utilizing Refunds from Industrial Accident and Employment Insurance Premiums. The seminar was held in response to the Korean government’s ongoing efforts to revise relevant laws to strengthen the prevention, punishment, and regulation of serious (industrial) accidents. It aimed to ease the burden on small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) practitioners, who often have limited human and material resources. To this end, we provided guidance on how to effectively utilize refunds from industrial accidents and employment insurance premiums, as well as how to comply with the Serious Accidents Punishment Act (SAPA) Compliance Certification (SCC) program.
The seminar commenced with opening remarks by D&A Partner Sung Jin KIM, followed by a presentation from Executive Director Young Sang YOO of Labor Law Firm Jaeil on "Cases of Receiving and Utilizing Refunds from Industrial Accident and Employment Insurance." D&A Partner Young Kyu KIM then delivered a presentation on "Serious Accident Prevention Strategies for Construction Companies and the SCC Program." During the seminar, the speakers led an in-depth discussion on the SAPA, addressing both regulatory frameworks and key practical issues.
In particular, D&A Partner Young Kyu KIM expressed hope that “this seminar would provide practical assistance in complying with the SAPA across various industries, including the construction sector.” He added, “We will continue to create opportunities to help companies reduce legal risks and deliver effective prevention and response strategies.”
At the seminar, participants actively engaged in a lively Q&A session discussing real-life applications of the SAPA and potential response strategies, demonstrating strong interest in corporate safety management and legal risk mitigation. The seminar concluded as a valuable forum for exploring practical solutions to respond to evolving legal and regulatory developments.
