On the afternoon of June 9, DR & AJU signed an MOU with the Korean Industrial Health Association for the joint operation of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act (SAPA) Compliance Certification (SCC). The signing ceremony was held at the main conference room in Donghoon Tower located on Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. 

Under this agreement, both parties will establish a cooperative system to prevent serious accidents and ensure industrial safety, and jointly operate the SAPA Compliance Certification (SCC). In the operation of the SCC, DR & AJU will be responsible for document review, while the Korean Industrial Health Association will conduct on-site inspections. A jointly issued certificate will be granted to workplaces that meet the evaluation criteria.  

Introduced by DR & AJU in 2022 as the first law firm in Korea to implement the SAPA compliance system, the SCC is a comprehensive program that evaluates companies’ fulfillment of their obligations under applicable laws, assigns certification grades, and officially verifies their continued legal compliance efforts through annual renewals.

Through this certification process, companies can strengthen their occupational safety and health systems while effectively mitigating the risk of criminal liability in the event of serious accidents.
