DR & AJU Sponsors South Africa-Korea Trade & Investment Seminar

On April 17, the “South Africa-Korea Trade & Investment Seminar,” jointly sponsored by DR & AJU, Absa Bank, and the Korea-Africa Foundation, and co-hosted by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), the South African Embassy in Korea, and the South African Chamber of Commerce in Korea, was successfully concluded with the participation of approximately 40 domestic companies.

The seminar garnered significant attention as it highlighted the strategic opportunities in Africa, especially South Africa, amidst the global supply chain reshuffle, and explored the potential for Korean companies to expand into various sectors, including energy, resources, and infrastructure. Notably, the seminar was attended by prominent African dignitaries, including South African Ambassador to Korea Sindiswa MQUQU, Rwandan Ambassador to Korea Bakuramutsa Nkubito, and Economic Counselor at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Korea John P. M. Masuka, providing attendees with a valuable opportunity to explore the prospects for practical cooperation across the African continent.

DR & AJU Foreign Attorney Mr. Timothy DICKENS, Head of the Africa Advisory Group at DR & AJU and Chairman of the South African Chamber of Commerce in Korea, participated as a speaker at the presentation titled “Leveraging the G20: New Pathways for Korea-South Africa Collaboration,” where he led an in-depth discussion on new possibilities and directions for bilateral economic cooperation, drawing on his global networks.

Following the seminar, one-on-one tailored consultations and counseling sessions were held with key South African institutions and financial organizations. Participating companies were able to secure tangible business opportunities by concretizing business feasibility plans and collaboration strategies on-site.

As the host of the G20 Summit this November, South Africa is keenly interested in attracting investments from Korean companies into South Africa and across Africa. DR & AJU’s Africa Advisory Group will continue to serve as a strategic partner for domestic companies seeking to enter the African market, providing practical support based on its extensive network and expertise.
