To celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties between South Korea and South Africa, the South Africa Investment Environment Seminar was held at the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) Conference Center on November 23, co-hosted by the South African Embassy in Korea, the Korea-Africa Center, and the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI).
At this seminar where South African Ambassador Gloria Nozuko BAM and Deputy Director of Ministry of Trade and Industry Amukelani RIKHOTSO, gave a keynote speech on behalf of the South African government, Dr. Sanghan YEA of the Korea-Africa Center noted that the fact that 10 Nobel laureates were produced in South Africa alone (four in Economic Sciences) represents South Africa's potential. Regarding investment in South Africa, Deputy Director Rikhotso talked about various support efforts by the South African government to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) in automobiles and parts, fuel cells, mobile devices, and many other sectors, while Mzamo KHUZWAYO, a CFO in Richards Bay, which is an industrial development zone in South Africa, highlighted the tax incentives and wage subsidy policies available to investors.
Timothy DICKENS who is a foreign attorney (admitted in the UK and South Africa) and the head of the DR & AJU’s Africa Team, shared knowledge on the various investment benefits of South Africa, such as strong legal protection, stability of the banking and judicial system, and partnerships with local companies.
