Since 2014, DR & AJU has assisted over 25 SMEs hoping to expand production through exports. International Transactions Head Sung-Hoon (Sonny) IM fashioned the pro bono arrangement through an MoU with the Ministry of Justice’s Division of International Legal Affairs. ILA Deputy Director Kha Yeun (Kelly) Kim or other MoJ attorneys periodically match SME management with participating DR & AJU attorneys. Besides Sonny IM, other attorneys volunteering to assist the SMEs include Russian Desk Head Sang Soon Park and Associate Elena Min, International Arbitration Head Tim Dickens and Associate Kyeong (Catherine) Kim, and  Southeast Asia Desk Head Seung Hyo (Sam) Baek. A year after commencing the program, the ILA notified DR & AJU that it had funding to pay KRW 100,000  (USD 87)/hour, however the DR & AJU attorneys have continued to waive all fees. The firm normally advises on such things as licensing, joint venture and distribution agreements for businesses in sectors as varied as natural resources, cosmetics and food & beverages. The companies trade with firms in the UK, Russia, Brazil and numerous other markets.
