Representative Activities
-
-
-
- [Multiple Violation Cases] Acquitted most of the accused and gave suspended sentences to others as most of the cases were planned by counter-communism investigators of the National Police Agency under the oppressive atmosphere of a highly conservative political situation.
-
- [Violation of the Public Official Election Act] Actively responded against a lawmaker’s attempt to postpone a trial through the abuse of authority by requesting the National Assembly’s approval for the arrest. This case instigated the implementation of regulations that incapacitate privileges from arrest.
-
- [Provisional Disposition of Forced Compliance with Collective Bargaining] Actively protected worker labor rights by recognizing sales workers’ independent collective bargaining rights on grounds that existing unions do not adequately represent the unique interests of sales workers.
-
- [Provisional Disposition of Prohibition of Distribution] Dismissed a personality rights claim by a writer’s ex-spouse requesting a ban on the publication and distribution of the novel the author was writing on grounds that such restrictions would violate the author’s right to freedom of expression.
-
- [Cancellation of Correction Order] Affirmed the correction order for a case regarding “intra-group transactions,” which is a practice that was not previously regarded as an unfair practice if the transaction price was reasonable, on grounds that it constituted illegal assistance under the Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act.
-
-
- [Cancellation of Decision on Pro-Japanese Collaborators’ Property to the State] Dismissed cancellation on grounds that the decision of returning the property of Pro-Japanese collaborators to the State is not a punishment that deems the descendants of pro-Japanese collaborators as criminals, but a just disposition that restricts the property rights of pro-Japanese property, which is unprotected by the Constitution.
-
- Served as the president of the Community for Court Oral Arguments and contributed to the revitalization of court mediation and the increase in the number of resolved cases by actively practicing and revitalizing oral arguments, which had been done perfunctorily.
-
- Took the lead in implementing the Public Assessment of the Judge nationwide, a system that collects and utilizes unregistered comments from trial participants to assist in the self-reflection and development of judges.
-
- Secured a favorable position for bringing the Asia Human Rights Court to Korea in the future by succeeding in getting the Secretariat for Research and Development of the AACC established in Seoul, which has long been the Constitutional Court's endeavor.
