DR & AJU Legislation & Government Relations Consulting Center’s latest issue of its specialized legislative journal, the Policy & Business Report, is now available in digital format.
A month before the implementation of the Serious Accident Punishment Act – Businesses must rebuild industries that are vulnerable to safety hazards and foster safety management capabilities from various angles.
On December 29, 2021, the Legislative Strategy Center (represented by Head of the Center Dong Eon CHA) of DR & AJU LLC (represented by Managing Partner Kyu Chul LEE) released the December 2021 issue of the specialized legislative journal, the Policy & Business (P&B) Report.
Mr. Dong Eon CHA, head of the Legislative Strategy Center, stated,
“As the Serious Accident Punishment Act (“SAPA”) will come into effect next year, businesses must fully comprehend their legal obligations and thoroughly fulfil their duties to secure safety and health, such as implementing a safety and health management system.” He further noted, “The focal point is to understand the legislation goal of the SAPA and bring it to life. However, as companies have different business settings, they need to meticulously examine whether there are any insufficiencies or factors that could cause confusion during implementation, and closely supplement them in practice.”
Mr. Seung Cheol LEE, a Senior Advisor at DR & AJU, stated, “It is known that the investigation manual is still being compiled in preparation of the SAPA enforcement.” He stressed, “With the assistance of a legal firm, this is the final opportunity for major businesses, SMEs, and public enterprises to analyze the major contents of the SAPA, develop response strategies, and prepare an inspection checklist.”
As the first-ever Korean law firm to issue specialized legislative journals, DR & AJU LLC has been publishing the monthly Policy & Business Report since August 2019. Based on a comprehensive evaluation of the legislation proposed to the National Assembly Subcommittee, Standing Committee, and Plenary Session from November 15, 2021 to December 14, 2021, the December 2021 issue of the P&B Report selects and analyzes legislation that significantly impacts corporate activities. Especially for major Acts, key quotes from legislators, members of the Standing Committee, and government officials are included.
