The 2024 Africa-Korea Trade & Industry Cooperation Forum, sponsored by DR & AJU, was successfully held on November 19. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and Korea Plant Industries Association (KOPIA), the forum revisited the outcomes of the 2024 South Korea-Africa Summit held in June, provided updates on market information in the African region, and offered specialized consulting services.

The forum was attended by In Ho LEE, Executive Vice Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA); In Kyo CHEONG, Head of the Trade Negotiation Division of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy; Chafik RACHADI, Moroccan Ambassador to Korea; and 13 Africa delegates, along with over 200 participants from academia, businesses, and institutions.

 Ms. Kyeong Catherine KIM of the DR & AJU Africa Advisory Group participated as a speaker on the topic “Africa’s Legal System and Key Considerations.” She highlighted the unique policies of individual African countries that businesses should consider when entering the African market and facilitated in-depth discussions on market entry strategies.

Following the presentation, a 1:1 business consulting session was jointly organized by DR & AJU, the Embassy of Africa in Korea, and the Institute of African Knowledge Sharing. In this session, DR & AJU Foreign Attorney Mr. Timothy DICKENS, head of the DR & AJU Africa Advisory Group and Chairman of the South African Chamber of Commerce Korea, offered strategic advice and tailored solutions to address businesses’ concerns and challenges.
