DR & AJU is proud to sponsor the New York State Bar Association International Section 2024 Global Conference in Seoul, which will take place for three days from Wednesday, October 16 to Friday, October 18 at the Hanyang Institute of Technology (HIT) in Hanyang University, Seoul.
The main topic of this conference is “Cross-Border Litigation and Transactions under a New Legal Paradigm.” Over 150 New York attorneys, U.S. federal judges, and Korean legal professionals will gather to discuss the best ways for the legal industry to prepare response measures for the socioeconomical changes caused by advancements in technology, including AI.
The event is drawing significant attention as three renowned U.S. federal judges will be attending the event.
Among them are Judge Jennifer Choe-Groves of the Court of International Trade, who is handling a patent litigation involving a Korean company; Judge Sidney H. Stein, who is currently presiding over the high-profile copyright infringement case brought by The New York Times and the Author’s Guild against OpenAI, the creators of ChatGPT; and Magistrate Judge Sallie Kim, an expert in patent litigation.
Attorneys from DR & AJU will also be participating in the event. Foreign Attorney Catherine (Kyeong) KIM will serve as a panelist in the “Cross-Border Litigation for U.S. and Korean Businesses and Practical Tips” session in the afternoon of October 16; Timothy DICKENS, Head of the DR & AJU Africa Group at and Chairman of the South African Chamber of Commerce Korea, will moderate the morning session “What to Do When Your Company or Your Client is Hacked” on October 17. Finally, Dong Eon CHA, Head of DR & AJU’s BD Division, will serve as a panelist in the morning session “Practical Issues of Legal AI: From Legal Eagles to Robo-Gavels” on October 18.
