DR & AJU Promotes on Government-Business Projects on Africa Outbound Investment and Participates in their Partnership
Participating in government business projects on Africa outbound investment promotion and their partnership, DR & AJU’s Africa Team has met with various Korean-African companies.
On April 19, Timothy Dickens, a foreign attorney admitted in the UK and SA and the Head of the DR & AJU’s Africa Team, and Kyeong (Catherine) Kim a foreign attorney admitted in the US, attended a welcoming ceremony for Angolan Foreign Minister Georges Rebel Pinto Chikoti, held by the Korea-Africa Center.
During the event attended by the Angolan Minister, Angola's abundant oil reserves and natural resources such as diamonds and iron ore were highlighted.
Angola has shown rapid growth in construction and manufacturing and its government has been encouraging foreign investment to expand its local infrastructure and medical facilities.
Ambassador Albino Malungo, the Ambassador of Angola to Korea, and representatives of Samsung SDS, Samsung Electronics, Kia Motors, and OCI attended this event.
On April 24, DR & AJU’s Africa team also participated in a business forum, co-hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Korea-Africa Center, where Augustine Mahiga, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania, attended as a presenter while on his Asian tour.
Tanzania is a politically and economically stable country with a steady growth rate of 7% per year as it has entered into a close trade relationship with eight countries in the Indian Ocean and neighboring regions. According to the IMF report, Tanzania recorded a total trade volume of USD 17.9 billion in 2015, and its trade volume with South Korea also reached USD 245 million.
DR & AJU was the only Korean law firm in attendance at this event.
