Our team is led by Mr. Sin Woo KIM, a Washington D.C.-admitted foreign attorney and seasoned expert in the energy and resource sector, with over 25 years of domestic and international experience in the nuclear energy industry. A versatile professional, Mr. Kim offers legal expertise in energy, security, resources, biotechnology, and intellectual property, leveraging his extensive U.S. experience, including expertise on the widely discussed Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and other compliance matters. Previously, he worked at the U.S. law firm, H.C. PARK & Associates, PLC, where he advised on intellectual property and technology transactions and provided comprehensive solutions for prominent Korean companies entering the U.S. market.
Mr. Kim’s extensive experience includes serving as an expert on power plant authorization and international cooperation at the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, building strong networks with regulatory bodies in various nuclear-powered countries worldwide. He has also served as Korea’s Inspector at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Additionally, having led a special judicial police team investigating violations of the Nuclear Safety Act, Mr. Kim offers advisory services and response strategies for ensuring compliance with the Act, particularly in addressing often-overlooked aspects of nuclear applications.
During his tenure at POSCO, Mr. Kim participated in the commercialization and planning of advanced nuclear technologies, such as the System-integrated Modular Advanced Reactor (SMART), the Very High Temperature Reactor (VHTR), and the Small Modular Reactor (SMR). As a recognized expert in SMR—a strategic solution to the current climate crisis—he offers advisory services and strategic guidance to domestic nuclear plant-related companies on developing business opportunities, consulting for foreign exports, and navigating nuclear export regulations. Additionally, during his tenure at KEPCO KPS, he contributed to the export of nuclear power plants to the UAE and the development of related international businesses. With a strong background in science and engineering, as well as extensive domestic and international experience, Mr. Kim is well-equipped to meet client needs. Moreover, as a fellow at the Center for the National Interest in Washington D.C., Mr. Kim conducts outreach projects by leveraging his keen understanding of both domestic and international geopolitical dynamics.
